IT Globus is an annual award for the best product and service in the area of Information and Telecommunication Technology in Serbia, delivered by Mikro-PC World magazine. At the final evening on 2nd of December 2008, the “Golden globe” for the greatest IT contribution, won until now by companies recognized for their great contribution to Serbian economy, was awarded to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia for introducing digital documents – passports and ID cards with chips, as a step to enable full implementation of E-Government for citizens thanks to the introduction of digital signature. In the name of the Ministry, the award was received by the head of IT Department of the Ministry, Dragan Maksimovic. (Source: Mikro-PC World)

SBS actively participated in the System for Personalization of Identification Documents (IPS) Project including appropriate HW and SW infrastructure design, its connection with existing and new specialized systems, creating a new platform for multilayer applications development, new security system, new network infrastructure, and, finally, connecting other Government organizations in the scope of e-government initiative. Installed architecture provides for maximum system reliability and availability, highest level of security and data protection and the best performance. Application development and implementation is easier and faster, link to external systems is enabled as well as different clients’ access, and the system itself is completely integrated and flexible, allowing the Ministry to expend and upgrade the system with ease and integrate it with future technologies.
